Landing Light Actuator Repair & Overhaul
FAA & EASA certified landing light actuator repair and overhaul.
About the Landing Light Actuator
A landing light actuator is an electromechanical extend/retract device that deploys and stows a retractable landing or taxi light, positioning the lamp into the slipstream for approach and withdrawing it to reduce drag and protect the lens in cruise. Falling under aircraft actuation, it converts motor torque through a gear train and ball or acme screw into linear or rotary travel, with internal limit switches signaling full-extend and full-retract positions. Service demands are driven by gear and screw wear, brush and commutator erosion in DC motors, hardened or dried lubricant, backlash, and limit-switch contact degradation that produces sluggish travel, stalling, or failure to seat. Moisture intrusion, corrosion, and worn end stops are common findings that drive overhaul.
