About the Nacelle Anti Ice Valve
A nacelle anti-ice valve regulates hot bleed air supplied to the engine nacelle and inlet structure for ice protection, preventing ice buildup on cowl and inlet surfaces that could degrade engine inlet performance or cause foreign-object damage from shed ice. Positioned in the nacelle anti-ice ducting within the pneumatic and air management system, it opens to admit heating air and modulates or shuts off to manage bleed demand and overheat protection. Typically a pressure-regulated, solenoid-controlled butterfly valve, it endures sustained high temperatures. Repair and overhaul are driven by butterfly and seat erosion and leakage, solenoid and pneumatic actuator failure, diaphragm and spring degradation, shaft bearing wear and binding, contamination-induced sticking, and seal deterioration causing regulation drift or failure to actuate.
