Component Overview
A gage pressure switch monitors pressure referenced to ambient atmospheric pressure and actuates an electrical contact when the measured gage pressure reaches a preset value, providing indication, warning, or control within the sensors-and-switches domain. A diaphragm, bellows, or piston senses pressure against a calibrated spring, switching contacts at the setpoint to drive cockpit indication or system logic referenced to local ambient conditions. In service it experiences sensing-element fatigue and creep that shift the setpoint, electrical contact erosion, pitting, and oxidation raising resistance, and spring relaxation. Diaphragm rupture, vent-port blockage affecting the ambient reference, seal leakage, contamination, and corrosion are common failure modes producing calibration drift, chatter, or failure to trip, driving recalibration, contact and seal servicing, and setpoint and continuity verification.
Aircraft Application
Part number 8D1496 (Gage Pressure Switch) is installed on the Pratt & Whitney PW2000/4000. QTC supports operators and MROs servicing this platform with certified repair and overhaul.
Our Repair Capability
QTC repairs and overhauls 8D1496 to the original manufacturer's specifications under our FAA and EASA Part 145 approvals. Our team — including former OEM sensors & switches engineers — performs teardown, inspection, cleaning, component replacement, functional testing, and certification, returning a serviceable unit with the appropriate airworthiness release.
