Catalytic Ozone Converter Repair & Overhaul
FAA & EASA certified catalytic ozone converter repair and overhaul.
About the Catalytic Ozone Converter
A catalytic ozone converter is an air quality device installed in the bleed-air or pack supply ducting to decompose atmospheric ozone, abundant at cruise altitudes, into ordinary oxygen before air enters the cabin. It uses a precious-metal catalyst coating, often palladium or platinum on a high-surface-area substrate, that promotes ozone breakdown at typical bleed-air temperatures without consuming the catalyst. Within the environmental control system it protects occupant health and downstream components from ozone's corrosive effects. Degradation is driven by catalyst poisoning from oil, sulfur, and other contaminants, thermal sintering, substrate cracking, and core fouling that reduce conversion efficiency. Overhaul typically involves substrate inspection, recoating or core replacement, and conversion-efficiency verification.
