Ducted Heat Exchanger Repair & Overhaul

FAA & EASA certified ducted heat exchanger repair and overhaul.

About the Ducted Heat Exchanger

A ducted heat exchanger is a heat-transfer core mounted within a dedicated air duct so that a flowing air stream passes across it to reject heat from a hotter fluid or air circuit. Integrated into the aircraft's thermal-management ducting, it typically uses a plate-fin or tube-and-fin matrix where the ducted cooling flow and the hot side are kept separate by the core walls. Its primary function is to transfer heat efficiently within the constrained geometry of the duct while minimizing pressure loss. Degradation that drives repair includes air-side fouling and fin deformation, internal contamination or corrosion, fatigue from thermal cycling and vibration, and braze-joint or header cracking that causes leakage. Overhaul focuses on cleaning, crack and leak repair, fin straightening, and pressure testing to restore thermal effectiveness and structural soundness.
