Ozone Converter Repair & Overhaul
FAA & EASA certified ozone converter repair and overhaul.
About the Ozone Converter
An ozone converter is a catalytic device installed in the air-quality and environmental-control path, generally downstream of the air-cycle pack, that decomposes atmospheric ozone in bleed or conditioned air before it reaches the cabin. High-altitude ambient air carries elevated ozone, which is harmful to occupants; the converter uses a precious-metal-coated catalyst substrate to convert ozone into ordinary oxygen as airflow passes through it. Its primary function is to keep cabin ozone concentration within physiological limits without restricting airflow. Over time the catalyst loses activity through poisoning by hydrocarbons and contaminants, thermal aging, and substrate fouling or physical degradation, all of which reduce conversion efficiency. Repair and overhaul address declining catalytic performance, core blockage, and housing or seal integrity to restore rated conversion and acceptable pressure drop.
