About the Regulating Shutoff Valve Assembly

A regulating shutoff valve assembly is a pneumatic control valve that both regulates downstream pressure and provides positive shutoff of bleed or pack air, typically a pressure-balanced butterfly valve driven by a torque motor or pneumatic actuator with an integral regulator. Installed in the air management distribution system, it maintains a controlled downstream pressure for environmental control, anti-ice, or pneumatic services and isolates flow on command or fault. Within the system it combines metering and isolation functions in one body. Repair and overhaul are driven by butterfly and bushing wear, actuator diaphragm and spring fatigue, regulator drift, solenoid and torque-motor degradation, seat and seal erosion causing leakage, and contamination-induced sticking that compromise pressure regulation and reliable closure.
