Component Overview

The hydraulic package is an integrated assembly that combines pumping, control, filtration, and regulation functions to deliver and manage pressurized fluid for actuation systems within the aircraft. Consolidating valves, a pump or motor element, filters, accumulator interfaces, and sensing into a single module, it supplies regulated flow and pressure to actuators while protecting the system through relief and check functions. Operating with high-pressure fluid and tight internal clearances, it is subject to internal leakage past worn spools, seals, and bores, contamination-induced wear and sticking, seal hardening and extrusion, cavitation and erosion, and degraded pressure regulation. Symptoms such as external leaks, sluggish response, or out-of-tolerance pressure prompt disassembly, contamination analysis, seal and component replacement, and functional and proof-pressure testing.
