Component Overview

A motor-driven hydraulic pump is a self-contained electrohydraulic power unit that supplies pressurized fluid to the aircraft hydraulic system, combining an electric motor with a hydraulic pump in a single packaged assembly. It commonly uses a piston or gear pump element driven through a coupling, providing system pressure for actuation, braking, and flight-control circuits independent of engine-driven pumps. Operating under continuous load, high pressure, and vibration, its primary degradation modes are pump element wear, internal leakage and loss of volumetric efficiency, bearing and shaft wear, seal deterioration, and motor winding or bearing failure.
