AP2V-82 -01 — Variable Delivery Hydraulic Pump Repair & Overhaul

Component Overview

A variable delivery hydraulic pump supplies pressurized fluid to an aircraft hydraulic system while automatically varying its output flow to match demand, typically holding constant system pressure as actuator loads change. Commonly a piston-type pump with a movable swashplate or compensator, it reduces stroke as pressure rises to limit heat generation and power draw. Driven by an engine gearbox or electric motor, its pistons reciprocate against the angled swashplate to draw and discharge fluid. Repair and overhaul are driven by piston, slipper, and valve-plate wear scoring and reduced volumetric efficiency, swashplate and bearing wear, compensator drift causing pressure regulation errors, shaft-seal and case leakage, fluid contamination damage, and internal slippage that lowers delivered flow and increases operating temperature.
