Bleed Air Valves Repair & Overhaul
FAA & EASA certified bleed air valves repair and overhaul.
About Bleed Air Valves in Aircraft Systems
A bleed-air valve controls the hot, high-pressure air tapped from the engine compressor and delivered into the aircraft pneumatic manifold. As the gateway between the engine bleed ports and the downstream air-management system, it governs the supply that feeds cabin pressurization and air conditioning, anti-ice, and engine-start functions. Many units are bleed-air regulating and shutoff valves, combining pressure regulation with positive isolation so the air source can be both controlled and commanded fully closed.
These valves typically use a butterfly flow element in a metal body, driven by a pneumatic actuator referenced to a servo regulator and often equipped with a solenoid for commanded shutoff. The actuator modulates the butterfly to hold regulated downstream pressure, while the shutoff function isolates the supply on demand or in response to a fault. QTC repairs and overhauls bleed-air valves, including units found on Beech platforms.
Because bleed-air valves sit directly in the engine bleed stream, they endure sustained high temperature, pressure, and flow. Overhaul is driven by butterfly and seat erosion and leakage, diaphragm and bellows fatigue, actuator and spring degradation that shifts the regulation setpoint, shaft bearing wear and binding, and contamination or coking that causes the valve to stick, lose pressure control, or fail to seal fully.
Our Bleed Air Valves Repair Process
QTC overhauls bleed-air valves under its FAA and EASA Part 145 approvals. Each valve is inspected on receipt and fully disassembled to expose the butterfly element, shaft, body, actuator, and control section. Eroded seats and seals, worn bushings and bearings, fatigued diaphragms, and degraded springs are replaced, and the butterfly and shaft are inspected and restored or renewed as needed. The pneumatic actuator, servo regulator, and any solenoid section are overhauled to specification.
The reassembled valve is recalibrated and functionally tested, with pressure-regulation, flow, leakage, and shutoff-actuation checks performed across the operating range to confirm the unit regulates to its reference, seals fully when closed, and responds correctly to commanded shutoff. Solenoid response and actuator travel are verified as part of the same test sequence. Units meeting requirements are returned to service with the appropriate certification, drawing on QTC's engineering background in bleed-air and environmental control systems for accurate setup and verification.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does QTC repair bleed air valves?
Yes. QTC is an FAA & EASA Part 145 repair station that repairs and overhauls bleed-air valves, including bleed-air regulating and shutoff valve assemblies.
What types of bleed air valves does QTC handle?
QTC services bleed-air valves and bleed-air regulating and shutoff valves, which combine downstream pressure regulation with positive isolation of the engine bleed supply.
Which aircraft bleed air valves does QTC support?
QTC repairs bleed-air valves across a range of platforms, including units used on Beech aircraft. Contact us with your part number to confirm coverage.
What is the turnaround on a bleed air valve overhaul?
Turnaround depends on the condition of the valve and the scope of work identified at inspection.
