Pneumatic Valves Repair & Overhaul
FAA & EASA certified pneumatic valves repair and overhaul.
About Pneumatic Valves in Aircraft Systems
Pneumatic valves regulate, route, and isolate the hot, high-pressure air that an aircraft's bleed-air and air-management system draws from the engine compressor. Working downstream of the engine bleed ports, these valves condition that air so it can serve cabin pressurization and air conditioning, wing and engine anti-ice, engine starting, and other pneumatic functions. The category spans several distinct devices, including bleed-air valves, pressure-regulating valves, shutoff valves, check valves, and anti-ice valves, each handling a specific control task within the same pneumatic network.
Construction typically centers on a butterfly or poppet flow element seated in an aluminum or steel body, modulated by a pneumatic actuator referenced to a servo regulator, often with solenoid control for commanded open and close functions. Related air-management hardware such as temperature control valves, bypass valves, and air turbine starters shares the same demanding operating environment. QTC repairs and overhauls units originally produced by makers including Bombardier, ATR, Dornier, Beech, British Aerospace, and Hamilton Sundstrand.
Because pneumatic valves operate continuously in high-temperature, high-velocity bleed air, they wear in predictable ways. Repair and overhaul are driven by seat and seal erosion, butterfly and poppet wear, diaphragm and bellows fatigue, actuator and spring degradation, shaft bearing wear and binding, and contamination or coking that causes sticking, all of which shift calibration or compromise positive sealing and require restoration to specification.

QTC overhauls pneumatic valves through a controlled MRO workflow built around our FAA and EASA Part 145 approvals. Each unit is received and inspected, then fully disassembled so the flow element, body, actuator, and control hardware can be evaluated. Worn seats, seals, bushings, bearings, and diaphragms are replaced, and the butterfly or poppet element and shaft are inspected and restored or renewed as required. Pneumatic actuators, servo regulators, and solenoid sections are overhauled, and the valve is reassembled to engineering specification.
The restored valve is then recalibrated and put through functional testing, including pressure regulation, flow, leakage, and actuation checks across its operating range, to confirm it meets the required performance. Units that pass are returned to service with the appropriate certification. QTC's engineering heritage with Hamilton Sundstrand and Honeywell ECS hardware supports accurate setup and verification of these air-management components.
